Description
The World Stress Map (WSM) is a global compilation on the crustal present-day stress field information. Since 2009, the open-access public database is maintained by Section 2.6 Seismic Hazard and Stress Field at the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences. It is a collaborative project between academia, industry, and government that aims to characterize the crustal stress pattern and to understand the stress sources. Software packages like Tecplot 360 Add-on GeoStress (http://doi.org/10.5880/WSM.2017.001) and the Matlab script Stress2Grid (http://doi.org/10.5880/WSM.2017.002) support the WSM service.
